Dr. Himachal Veligandla is an esteemed cardiologist based out of Florence, Kentucky and is dedicated to providing superior care and education to his patients. He credits his success as a cardiologist to his tireless work ethic. His interest in pursuing a career in medicine began at a young age, after witnessing his mother suffer a heart attack. Following this experience, Dr. Veligandla set out to complete his medical degree in India and was later certified to practice as a cardiologist in the United States.
He considers it a privilege to have obtained and completed medical training to enable him to practice cardiology in the United States. He often reflects on his humble beginnings as part of a farmer’s family in rural India. He completed his medical degree in India in 1984.
Dr. Himachal Veligandla and his wife moved to the United States in 1998. In 1990, he earned a master’s degree in biology. He then completed an Externship at the VA Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota, followed by an Internship at the University of Fargo, North Dakota. He then went on to complete a cardiology fellowship from 2001 to 2004, and later attended an International Cardiologist Fellowship Program at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa for one year.
Following this, he accepted a position at St. Anthony’s Medical Centre in Saint Louis, Missouri from 2005 to 2006.
He has over 35 years of experience in the practice of cardiology. He worked as the Director of ICU at Highland Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Kentucky from 2014 to 2017, and then later went on to accept a position at the Northside Medical Center in Youngstown, Kentucky.
Throughout his long and varied career, Dr. Veligandla has been a tireless advocate for his patients and their families. He gains immense personal satisfaction from healing patients and watching them resume normal, healthy lives. He dedicates a great deal of time to educating patients and the larger community in general about the dangers of heart disease and how to move from just treating heart disease to preventing it entirely.
Because he has a passion for helping others, Dr. Veligandla hopes to open a free clinic abroad in the near future — perhaps in his home country of India, where there is very limited care for cardiac patients.
Dr. Himachal Veligandla currently lives in Florence, Kentucky, with his wife — who is also a cardiologist. He is an active and involved member of his community. He is currently seeking out new opportunities to practice cardiology with a new organization.
